  1. Ah . Sometimes the deciding is the hard part.

  2. Wow that is simple. It would be nice if more people would go back to step two when they don’t do well in 1-4. I think fear has a lot to do with that.

  3. @ Michellev - Yes it is hard, but never as hard as #2.

@ Cade -The antidote to fear is action.

  4. 4 is the main part missing when most (especially organizations) take action. It does happen with people too but I think many people are better at noticing when things don’t work in something they do themselves (but not always).

I also find great value in predicting before doing, it helps you learn more from your attempts. For more see: Predicting Improves Learning and plan-do-study-act cycle.

  5. oops I meant 3 is the part missing

  7. If I were to add anything maybe put in after step 1 Is there a chance in hell I could do it? But otherwise I love your list. It really is that simple.

  8. i think there needs to be a step between 1 and 2
called MAKEING THE PLAN TO DO IT!
you can just jump in and do it
well you can but chances are you’/ll end back up at step 1 more frequently so plan out your #2 step what little steps can you do each day to get your goal.. if you do that and don’t give up you will have to wait untill it’s complete before you get to #1 agian!
this seems like a giving up plan to me… eg #3 is it working — why not try something else to make it work! so your wrighting a letter and your ran out of paper so now you go back to one and buy flowers in stead… no just go to the store and buy some paper that letter would of ment more anyway!
so at #3 it should be try a different way and do #3 a few times then start over!
just my opinion… but over all not bad!

  9. @ John- Thanks for the links, I will check them out.

@ Dave- I tend to run on 70% certainty. In other words, if there is a 70% chance of pulling it off, I will do it.

@ Pril- Planning is essential, plans are useless. Stick around, I will explain in a later post.

  11. The great thing about a 5 point plan is that we can keep track on one hand! I am a BIG believer in a Top 5 list. Beyond that you rarely get the rest done anyway.

This list also points out that business creation or business transformation is not hard once you get past step #1 - Deciding what you want.

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. Is it also possible to ask for help from other people in case what you are doing doesn’t work?
