Not for sissies
Let’s be honest with each other for a minute. We do not do it for the money. Any damn fool can make money, and many of them do. I am an entrepreneur because I can’t NOT be. I am self-employed because I will to. I decided many years ago to steer my own course; to live by my wits and the vagaries of the marketplace rather than to subsist on the dole, whether tended by the government in Washington or the CEO in the corporate headquarters.
I know many people like me, who are out there daily, fighting battles, slaying dragons, putting it all on the line in hope of trying to force our own order in a world that seems stacked against us. We are the modern day Quixotes, battling windmills and saving snaggle-toothed maidens and, at the end of the day, hoping there is enough in the till to feed the employees, the tax man, and a little left over so we can have ground chuck in the hamburger helper tonight.
The world despises us; they are chained to their cubicles living their lives of quiet desperation, trading their very lives in exchange for the false promise of security. Over time, we loose our non-entrepreneur friends, because they have no concept of the battles we fight, the dread we feel when opening the mailbox, the struggles with employees and governmental agencies; they understand none of that and think us nuts for putting up with that when we could be much more secure in a “real’ job.
If you are one of us and are tired of being ignored, tired of being alone, tired of not being understood then welcome aboard. You will find kindred souls here, folks who will talk your talk, who will apply salve to your wounds and will help shore you up for another day in the marketplace.
If you are not yet one of us, please look around and visit. If the harsh reality I speak of scares you out of owning your own business, you should thank me (cash being the preferred method of thanks), because you would not have lasted anyway. This is no gig for sissies.
